The green energy transition has a great need for critical minerals. Recycling is not enough. New mines must be developed. Are seabed minerals an alternative? The fundamental ethical problem is that we must extract new critical minerals that affect nature. Chinas dominant role in metals and minerals, as well as the growing geopolitical situation, is an important backdrop. Can Norway contribute to ensuring that the extraction and processing of seabed minerals can be done in the most sustainable way possible?
